STANDARDS OF INDEPENDENCE

An “independent” director is a director whom the Board of Directors has determined has no material
relationship with Elevance Health, Inc., or any of its consolidated subsidiaries (collectively, the
“Company”), either directly, or as a partner, shareholder or officer of an organization that has a
relationship with the Company.
